Machine learning

Machine learning is one of the eternal hot topics of AI research. Besides applied research, e.g. in medicine, metrology, intelligent tutoring systems, energy poverty prediction, etc., AI Lab members do a lot of basic research in this field. Some recent topics are (a) modifying existing ML algorithms to take advantage of estimated uncertainty in feature values, (b) knowledge elicitation via argument based machine learning, both for improved explainability and predictive power, (c) computer adaptive testing in the presence of time constraints or a terminal event.
