Acad. Ivan Bratko in the Programme Ugriznimo znanost

On Thursday, June 11, 2020, the programme Ugriznimo znanost aired on TV Slovenia. The guest of the programme, which was dedicated to artificial intelligence, was Acad. Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko from UL FRI.

In the 10 years since Acad. Ivan Bratko previously appeared on Ugriznimo znanost, a computer has still not passed the Turing test. According to Acad. Ivan Bratko, it is not clear , whether it will ever pass it at all . It seems that computers are getting closer to passing the test , but there are still many indicators showing that computers have great difficulty with common-sense reasoning .

Artificial intelligence has advanced significantly over the past decade, especially due to large amounts of data and machine learning. With its help, self-driving vehicles can decide whom to save in potential traffic accidents, and it also assists scientists in discovering new medicines . The programme also presented the UNESCO International Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence , which is based in Slovenia.
