At a consultation on artificial intelligence in education, organized in the National Council by the Council’s Commission for Education and the Council for the Development of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU), experts called for the integration of artificial intelligence and education about its use at all levels of the education system. At the same time, they also highlighted challenges related to ethics and trust.

From the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko and Prof. Dr. Blaž Zupan attended the consultation.

Prof. Dr. Blaž Zupan emphasized that it is crucial to adapt school education to the knowledge that is most relevant today, such as data literacy, algorithmic thinking, and computer science. According to him, these skills can be introduced to children at a very early age, even without using a computer. He recommends that elements of data literacy be incorporated into all subjects in primary school, not as an additional burden, but as a new way of understanding content.
