Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko and Prof. Dr. Blaž Zupan from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, University of Ljubljana, spoke for the N1 web portal about the beginnings of machine learning development in Slovenia and current challenges in the field of artificial intelligence.

Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory pointed out in the article the limitations faced by the field of machine learning. Among other things, it requires enormous amounts of data and is not capable of reasoning or using “common sense,” which has been widely discussed in the context of artificial intelligence in recent years. One of the main goals in artificial intelligence remains communication between computers and humans; however, as noted by Prof. Dr. Blaž Zupan from the Bioinformatics Laboratory, there has not been significant progress in this area.
