Nobel Prize in Physics Awarded for Machine Learning

This year’s Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to American scientist John J. Hopfield and British-Canadian scientist Geoffrey E. Hinton for fundamental discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks.

The significance of neural networks for the rapid advancement of machine learning and artificial intelligence was also highlighted in the media by FRI researchers Marko Robnik Šikonja, Ivan Bratko, Aleksander Sadikov, and Danijel Skočaj in the context of this award-winning achievement.
