As part of the Information Society multiconference, on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 5:00 PM in Lecture Room 22 a round table titled “Ban on Autonomous Weapons” will take place, organized by the Slovenian Artificial Intelligence Society – SLAIS and ACM Slovenia. Representatives of Slovenian associations and experts from the Faculty of Computer and Information Science will participate.

With its rapid development, artificial intelligence may in a few years enable the creation of terminators and robocops. Would you like to live in such a society? Around the world, many intellectuals and organizations are joining initiatives to ban the development of autonomous weapons. Chemists and biologists have already banned chemical and biological weapons.

The following guests will present their views at the round table:

  • Prof. Dr. Matjaž Gams (representative of ACM Slovenia)
  • Acad. Prof. Dr. Ivan Bratko (head of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at UL FRI and a pioneer of artificial intelligence in Slovenia)
  • Niko Schlamberger (representative of the Slovenian Informatics Society)
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olga Markič (representative of the Cognitive Science Society)
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bogdan Filipič (representative of the Artificial Intelligence Society)
  • Prof. Dr. Denis Trček (head of the Chair of Informatics at UL FRI and visiting professor at Stanford University)

Join the round table and support the petition that will be sent to the United Nations and the Slovenian government.
