Roundtable on ChatGPT

On May 18, the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana hosted a roundtable titled We Need to Talk About ChatGPT, organized by Science on the Road and Frekvence X.

The panel featured discussions on the usefulness and impact of large language models and artificial intelligence, with guest speakers including AI and machine learning expert Dr. Marko Robnik Šikonja, AI in medicine researcher Dr. Vida Groznik from FRI, Digital Linguistics program director Dr. Špela Vintar, and philosopher Dr. Sebastjan Vörös from the Faculty of Arts.

The debate touched on questions about which jobs and activities AI will enhance, replace, simplify, or displace in the future, the uncertainty of its capabilities, and the potential impact on the values of learning, wisdom, and intellectual progress. They also discussed how the educational system will prepare for these changes.
